There are 10 universities in the TriCity and 60,000 students with 4,000 studying at The Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG). MUG was founded in 1945 and since then has been enjoying the status of an academic state school. It is now one of the largest and most modern medical universities in Poland. Teaching and research are being performed in The Faculty of Medicine, the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology, and the Faculty of Pharmacy.
